yard CLOTH is a small, independent studio exploring slower ways of making and dressing. Rooted in a respect for natural materials, and design with simplicity, function and longevity in mind.
Founded by Africa Daley-Clarke, yard CLOTH began with a personal need: a functional shell to meet the coastal elements -something light, protective and honest, built from natural fibres and made with traceable care. What existed was often fashionable, mass-produced, or over-designed. The hardy, useful piece Africa needed simply wasn’t there. yard CLOTH was created to fill the gap of functional cloth companions.
Each piece is made with care -considered in cut and fabric, made to be lived in, repaired, and relied upon. We work in small runs, using natural fibres and gentle processes that value touch, durability, and quiet beauty. Nothing unnecessary, nothing hurried.
Our garments are made to serve: useful, comfortable, and unobtrusive. The kind you reach for instinctively, and forget you’re wearing until the weather reminds you why. A companion rather than an accessory; a second layer rather than a statement.
The name yard CLOTH holds two truths. Yard as home -the place that holds you- and cloth as the simple materials that cover and accompany us every day. Together, they speak to essentials: pieces made with care, meant for real life, and grounded in familiarity.
The Scout collection is the first chapter in an ongoing practice of thoughtful making -a slow, evolving range shaped by purpose, provenance and restraint.
From design to packaging, every decision is made to lessen impact and honour resource. yard CLOTH is an ongoing study in care -clothing for the rhythm of everyday life.
